Mexico won the Concacaf Gold Cup this Sunday (16) after defeating Panama 1-0 in the final at the SoFi stadium in Los Angeles, in front of more than 70,000 spectators.

Santiago Giménez, who had just come on, scored the winning goal for Mexico at the end of the second half (88′).

Mexico started by trying to impose itself on the duel, but got scared after two minutes, when the Panamanian midfielder made a deep pass to Ismael Díaz, who was unable to overcome goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa.

After that, the Mexicans surrounded the Panama area and created several opportunities, but were unable to open the scoring.

In the second half, ‘Tri’ continued to dominate, until Santiago Giménez came on for Henry Martín (85′) and, three minutes later, scored the winning goal.

Giménez received the ball in midfield and started through the Panamanian defense before invading the area and hitting goalkeeper Mosquera.

In this way, Mexico wins the Gold Cup for the ninth time in history (1993, 1996, 1998, 2003, 2009, 2011, 2015, 2019 and 2023).

For Panama, this was the third defeat in a tournament final (2005 and 2013).
