Joint Statement on Venezuelan ⁢Elections

The governments of Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia reiterated their call to ⁤the ⁤electoral authorities of Venezuela to disseminate the⁤ minutes of ‍the celebratory process following the presidential elections ⁣on ⁢July 28th.

Through a joint⁤ statement,‌ the ​foreign‌ ministries emphasized ⁤their respect ⁢for the independence and autonomy of the Venezuelan Electoral Council (CNE) as the⁣ legally⁢ responsible body for transparently disseminating election results.

The statement also highlighted the importance ‍of allowing impartial‍ verification of the results and respecting​ the fundamental principle of popular‍ sovereignty.

The foreign ministers ⁤expressed ​their⁣ willingness to support efforts for dialogue and understanding to ​contribute to political stability and democracy in Venezuela.

During ‍the virtual⁢ meeting,⁤ Mexican President​ Andrés Manuel⁤ López Obrador urged ‍the contenders in the July ⁣25 election to avoid self-proclamations of victory‍ and to ​respect the established electoral process.

The foreign⁤ ministries expressed solidarity with the ‌Venezuelan people and⁤ called on the electoral authorities to expedite the‌ counting and dissemination of results, while ⁤urging‍ political and social actors to exercise ‌caution and restraint to‌ maintain social peace.
