Mexico City Congress receives sixth government report

On behalf of the Head of Government, Marti Batresthe Secretary of Government Ricardo Ruiz delivered the latest Local Government Report 2019-2024.

In the Constitutive Session of the Installation of the III Legislature of the Congress of Mexico CityRuiz Suárez handed over to the president of the Board of Directors of the local Congress, Martha Ávila, the document that details the actions, works and programs of the country’s capital.

The Sixth Government Report of Mexico City presents the results during the administration of the now elected president Claudia Sheinbaum, and the Head of Government, Martí Batres, through seven axes: Republican Austerity, Equality and Rights, Sustainable City, Mobility, Security, and Science, Innovation and Technology.

In the Sustainable City Axis, the Report highlights that the economy of Mexico City is the most important in the country, with the 15 percent contribution to national wealth and with an annual growth of 3.7 percent in the quarterly indicator of state economic activity.

The document details that, from 2019 to 2024, 160 thousand 384.5 million pesos (mdp) were allocated in public investment to improve social infrastructure, the environment and mobility, particularly in historically neglected areas.

Regarding Housing Promotion, he said that it was exceeded 13 percent of the housing actions goal committedwith the completion of 112,688 works aimed at improving single-family and multi-family housing.

In terms of Mobility, he highlighted the investment of 2,315 million pesos for the construction of Cablebús Line 3; the creation of the Aztecas Trolleybus in the Los Pedregales area, in the Coyoacán Municipality, and the acquisition of nine new Light Rail trains to double the fleet of said transport.

While in the Security axis it noted a reduction of 61.95 percent of the crime rate, when comparing January-May 2019 with the same period in 2024.
