Millions Welcomed: City Mobilizes for Massive Pilgrim Pilgrimage
A massive wave of devotees is expected to descend upon the iconic Basílica de Guadalupe, prompting the City of Mexico to launch a comprehensive safety and support operation, “Basílica,” to ensure a smooth and secure experience for all.
Leading the charge, César Cravioto Romero, the City’s Secretary of Government, revealed a formidable force of over 11,000 dedicated public servants from various City departments, poised to greet and safeguard the anticipated six million pilgrims arriving at the revered site.
“The heart of the ‘Basílica’ operation extends from December 6th to 15th, strategically timed to accommodate the influx of millions of visitors. Peak crowds are projected around 8 p.m. as faith communities converge in a stunning display of devotion,” the Secretary of Government stated.
Speaking to MILENIO Televisión with Fernando Robles, César Cravioto emphasized the multifaceted collaboration driving this vital endeavor. A powerful alliance of departments including the Secretariat of Government, Secretariat of Citizen Security, Secretariat of Public Works, Secretariat of Social Welfare, Civil Protection, Fire Department, Institute of Youth, and Secretariat of Mobility, will work tirelessly to ensure a seamless pilgrimage experience.
“This is the cornerstone operation for the City every year. We recognize the immense scale of this event, with millions converging upon us. It’s imperative that every sector of our City government unites to provide a smooth and trouble-free journey for all pilgrims,” proclaimed Cravioto Romero, underscoring the unwavering commitment to the well-being of each visitor.
