Mexico imposes tariffs on Vietnamese steel microwire

The Ministry of Economy reported that they imposed definitive tariffs on microwire imports of steel for welding originating from Vietnam.

The resolution was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation with the final Resolution of the administrative antidumping investigation procedure on imports of steel microwire for welding originating in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The antidumping investigation began on October 10, 2023. For the final resolution, the Secretariat was based on information provided by importers, exporters and national producers.

Economy justifies tariffs

“It was concluded that imports of microwire originating in Vietnam entered Mexico during the investigated period, under dumping conditions and caused damage to the national industry,” said Economía.

He stated that consequently, in order to provide fair conditions of competition and defend the interests of the national productive plant, the establishment of a definitive compensatory quota of 36.23% on imports of microwire from Vietnam is appropriate, which will be in force for the next 5 years. and that, eventually, could be extended.
