Infectious diseases were the leading cause of mortality

Regarding the causes of avoidable mortality, they were infectious diseasesfollowed by injuries, traffic accidents, suicide, heart attack, stroke and other circulatory diseases, among others.

Regarding life expectancy, the OECD average is 80.3 years, in Mexico it was only 75.4 years. Although mortality rates decreased in most countries of the OECD Since 2000, they have increased in six nations, in addition to Mexico: Costa Rica, Korea, Chile, Japan, Colombia and Turkey.

One of the few OECD indicators that shows positive figures is the decrease in the percentage of tobacco and alcohol consumption in the population under 15 years of age, where Mexico performs very well, with 8.6 and 5.1%. , respectively.
