The route connects the port of Salina Cruz, on the Pacific, with that of Coatzacoalcos, on the Atlantic coast. The expectation is to move 300,000 containers per year in 2028, in addition to passengers through the states of Chiapas and Tabasco. The inauguration takes place a week after operations began on the tourist Trem Maia, a project that also aims to develop the impoverished southeastern region of Mexico.
