MH17 court postponed consideration of compensation claims of victims’ relatives until December

Discussion of the issue of compensation to the relatives of the victims of the Malaysian Boeing crash over Donbass will be considered by the court in the Netherlands in December, the presiding judge Hendrik Steenhais said at the hearing. Earlier it was assumed that the claims of relatives will begin to be considered on November 9.

“The issue of the claims of the injured party will be considered in December. This block of hearings will begin on December 10, ”the judge said (quoted by RIA Novosti).

Earlier, several lawyers representing the families of those killed in the crash of the Malaysian Boeing complained about the surveillance of them. The National Coordinator for Combating Terrorism and Security (NCTV) suggested that Russia was allegedly trying to intimidate the lawyers and obstruct their work.

A Malaysian Boeing en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur was shot down in the skies over Ukraine on July 17, 2014. All passengers and crew (298 people) were killed. The defendants in the case are ex-defense minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic Igor Girkin and three of his subordinates – Russians Sergey Dubinsky and Oleg Pulatov, as well as Ukrainian Leonid Kharchenko. The hearings on the merits began on June 7 in the Netherlands.
