Stefano Cremasco-Cicero, 36, the U.S. operating manager of Miami’s 1986 Steak House, was denied bond after police found him soaked in blood and arrested him for the fatal stabbing of his mother inside his 47th-floor luxury apartment in the city’s Brickell neighborhood early Friday morning.
The quiet hours before dawn on Friday, September 4, 2026, turned into a bloody crime scene on the 47th floor of the Solitair Brickell Apartments. Miami-Dade corrections police arrived at the luxury high-rise at 86 SW Eighth St. shortly before 5 a.m. following what dispatch logs recorded as an unknown request
. They encountered a horrifying sight in the lobby: the restaurant manager drenched in blood on his clothing, hands, and shoes.
Before leading officers up to his high-rise unit, Cremasco Cicero told police, I was defending myself,
according to his arrest affidavit.
Inside the 47th-Floor Brickell Apartment
When officers unlocked the apartment door, they discovered an unidentified woman lying on her side, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Miami Fire Rescue pronounced her dead at the scene at 5:08 a.m. Subsequent searches under a signed warrant revealed several bloodied silver kitchen knives, two blood-stained white shirts, a shattered glass, and a broken wine bottle inside the residence.
Building lease records show that Cremasco-Cicero and his wife have been the sole lessees of the apartment since July 23, 2024. Investigators learned from a phone interview with his wife—who was out of the country in France attending a wedding—that Cremasco-Cicero’s mother was visiting him from Mexico. She told authorities that her husband and his mother were not particularly close following his parents’ divorce.
Surveillance Footage and the 911 Call
Surveillance cameras and key-fob logs tracked the mother and son returning to the building together around 10:32 p.m. the night before the killing. Hours later, at approximately 4:26 a.m., camera footage captured Cremasco-Cicero entering an elevator wearing a white T-shirt, khaki pants, and white shoes while holding a knife.
The video showed him dropping the knife after stepping out of the elevator, picking it back up, and boarding another elevator to return upstairs. He later descended wearing a long-sleeved blue shirt, exited the building, and walked eastbound on Southwest Eighth Street while on his phone.
Just before 4:40 a.m., he returned to the lobby and sat on a couch wearing his bloodied white shoes. A food delivery driver arriving at the building told police that Cremasco-Cicero opened the lobby door for her and asked her to call 911. He then called police himself and handed his phone to the courier so she could speak with the dispatcher.
“While speaking with 911, the courier noticed blood on Cremasco-Cicero. When she tried to return the phone to him, he refused to take it back.”

Professional Life and Restaurant Background
Born in Mexico and of Argentine descent, Cremasco-Cicero worked as the U.S. operating manager for 1986 Steak House in Coconut Grove. While his wife noted she knew of no history of mental illness, she told investigators that her husband had been under considerable stress because of the work involved in opening the new restaurant.
Court Appearance and Custody Status
Following his arrest, Cremasco-Cicero was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and charged with second-degree murder with a weapon. Jail records show he is also subject to an immigration hold because he resided in the United States on an investor visa.
He appeared before a Miami-Dade County judge wearing a green anti-suicide smock and was denied bond. He is scheduled to return to court on Tuesday morning.
