Michael Cera Opens Up About the Fun and Depressing Reality of Filming “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World”

Michael Cera recently revealed his bittersweet experience while filming the 2010 hit movie “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.” In an interview with GQ posted on YouTube, the actor confessed that he had such a great time on set that it was difficult for him once production wrapped.

Cera, known for his role in “Superbad,” spent around nine months filming the Edgar Wright-directed movie. Despite the long shoot, he expressed how much fun he had with his fellow cast members. “We just had the greatest vibe with everybody,” he recalled. Cera believes this positive atmosphere was a result of director Edgar Wright’s energy and their extensive rehearsal time before filming began.

In the film, based on the graphic novel series by Bryan Lee O’Malley, Cera plays Scott Pilgrim, a bass guitarist for a garage-rock band. The story follows Scott as he battles his new girlfriend’s seven evil exes to win her heart and a competition for a record deal.

However, as the filming came to an end, Cera found himself feeling down. “This is my world, this is my group of friends,” he thought, hoping it would always be that way. Unfortunately, he soon realized that everyone was going their separate ways to work on other projects. He admitted feeling a little depressed when he realized that the tight-knit group was scattering. “It all just goes away, and you’re like, ‘Where did everybody go?'” Cera expressed.

While he eventually came to accept that this is the reality of the industry, Cera couldn’t help but feel sad about losing the camaraderie they had during the filming of “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.” He even expressed that he could have kept making the movie forever, despite how exhausting it was.

In a surprising turn of events, a new teaser for “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off,” an upcoming Netflix animated series, was released on Wednesday. The cast of the original movie, including Cera, returned to voice their respective roles in the anime. The highly anticipated show, consisting of eight episodes, is set to premiere on Netflix on November 17.

Fans of “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” can look forward to revisiting the beloved characters and experiencing the magic of the film once again, albeit in a different format. As for Michael Cera, he may have moved on from the world of Scott Pilgrim, but his memories from the movie will always hold a special place in his heart.
