Jackson Family Announces Plans for Michael Jackson Museum on the Côte d’Azur
A museum dedicated to the life and art of Michael Jackson is in development, slated for the Côte d’Azur, the family announced Wednesday, December 3, in Monaco. The project promises a unique look into the creative world of the “King of Pop,” showcasing a previously unseen collection of his artwork.
Sixteen years after his passing, a large-scale tribute to Jackson is taking shape. Jermaine Jackson, Michael’s older brother and founding member of the Jackson Five, publicly revealed the family’s ambition during the Christmas Grand Gala at the Monaco Yacht Club. The envisioned musée will offer an immersive experience into Jackson’s artistic and personal universe through a curated collection of his creations.
According to Luiz Costa Macambira, a friend of Jermaine Jackson and founder of The Monegasque magazine, the museum’s centerpiece will be an exceptional collection of approximately 120 drawings, paintings, and sculptures created by Jackson himself. This collection aims to highlight a lesser-known aspect of the iconic performer who died in 2009.
“Michael was also an incredible painter,” Jermaine Jackson assured attendees, noting that his mother, Katherine Jackson, age 95, has given her full support to the project. The artwork will reflect Jackson’s diverse interests, including his signature Moonwalk shoes, beloved Disney characters, portraits of American presidents like Ronald Reagan, and even a reproduction of the White House door. A particularly noteworthy piece will be “Two Marylins,” a collaborative drawing created by Jackson and the renowned artist Andy Warhol, paying homage to Marilyn Monroe.
Before the museum officially opens its doors, an initial exhibition of Jackson’s works is planned for 2027. Currently housed in Santa Monica, California, the collection will first be showcased in Monaco, timed to coincide with the opening of the Monaco Biennale in the fall of 2027.
The decision to locate the museum on the Côte d’Azur, rather than in locations like Dubai or Abu Dhabi, stems from the family’s personal connection to the region. As Macambira explained, Jermaine Jackson previously resided in Villefranche-sur-Mer and Monaco.
This ambitious project is being spearheaded by Jackson Family Legacy Investments, a company founded by Jermaine Jackson in 2023 and based in the United Arab Emirates. The company’s mission is to preserve and promote the cultural and artistic legacy of the Jackson dynasty for future generations.
