The main leader of Independiente del Valle, Michel Deller, was asked about the current situation of Ecuadorian clubs and the debt owed by the cable company GOLTV.
In the run-up to the crucial match against Palmeiras, Deller spoke about the clubs’ finances and the debt held by the company GOLTV:
“The clubs’ debts are huge and there is no other option. We know that we have problems with the current cable company. The fact that we are doing well allows us to work, but the championship cannot be held with 5 teams that are doing well financially.”
Deller gave his point of view on the actions that LigaPro should take to try to improve the current situation of the clubs: “At this moment LigaPro has to resolve an immediate issue and pay what it owes, many clubs live off of TV rights, after solving the problem they have to work for what it was created for: to clean up Ecuadorian football and give the clubs a stable economy.”
The historic IDV director concluded his speech with a forceful phrase: “LigaPro has not fulfilled its purpose, which is to control the economy of the clubs”.
