Michelle Bolsonaro cried during her speech
During an evangelical service held in Taguatinga (DF) last Thursday (7), former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro, accompanied by former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), made statements stating that they are being “persecuted and wronged.”
“How it hurts, brothers, to see that many who said they shared our same faith agree with everything that goes against the specific values of our God”, declared Michelle, being hugged by her husband.
Emotional, Michelle Bolsonaro cried during the service and expressed her feeling of betrayal by former colleagues. The statements were made amid a moment of great pressure faced by the couple, after the Federal Police accepted a plea agreement with former aide-de-camp Mauro Cesar Barbosa Cid.
“They will attack us. The Lord did not promise us that it would be easy. The Lord said that we would be persecuted, all those who had Christ as Lord and savior would be persecuted. And we are being persecuted and wronged,” he said in tears.
Mauro Cid had been in prison since May 3rd, but was released this Saturday (9). He is being investigated for his alleged participation in illegal activities, including fraud on Bolsonaro and his daughter’s vaccination cards.
Furthermore, he is suspected of involvement in a scheme to sell jewelry and luxury items that were allegedly received by the former president during official meetings.
Michelle Bolsonaro is also under investigation on suspicion of involvement in the embezzlement of some of the jewelry that her husband allegedly received as a gift during his tenure as president.
The Federal Police suspect that the former president coordinated and benefited from this alleged scheme for the international sale of gifts received during official engagements.
At the end of August, the couple and others investigated in the case gave statements to the Federal Police, with Michelle and Bolsonaro choosing to remain silent during the interrogation.
