Microsoft plans to release Office 2024 and Office LTSC 2024 this year. The company announced this in a blog entry. While Office LTSC 2024 (Long-Term Servicing Channel) is aimed at companies and organizations, Office 2024 is intended for consumers.
The company does not announce an exact release period. With regard to Office LTSC 2024, Microsoft writes of “general availability later this year,” which should also apply to the version for private users.
As usual, Microsoft wants to provide Office 2024 with updates for five years. Buyers pay once for the software package. The price should not change compared to the previous version.
Microsoft doesn’t want to change the prices
Microsoft Office Home & Student 2021 costs 149 euros. The group wants 299 euros for Office Home & Business 2021. Microsoft Office Professional 2021 costs 579 euros.
Microsoft will only announce details about new functions of Office 2024 shortly before the release of the versions.
The new or improved functions for Office LTSC 2024 have already been determined. There should be AI-controlled “automation in Word, Excel and PowerPoint”. According to Microsoft, “cloud-based security and compliance functions” will also be made available or improved.
Office LTSC 2024 and Office 2024 will run on Windows 10 and Windows 10 LTSC devices – except for Arm devices that require Windows 11. There will be both 32- and 64-bit versions of the Office programs.
Mac users or companies that use Apple computers can also look forward to it. Microsoft wants to make Office 2024 also available for Macs.
