The Microsoft Edge beta channel now has a function for managing the RAM consumed by the Edge browser. This was reported by the Tom’s Hardware portal, Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru.

The feature that allows you to set limits on RAM consumption gives users the ability to optimize their computer’s resources. This is especially important when performing resource-intensive tasks such as games, or for continuous use, to reduce the load on “weak” systems.

Users can allocate a minimum of 1 GB for the Edge browser to run, with the ability to increase the limit in 1 GB increments. However, setting the minimum value can significantly affect the browser’s performance, given the high memory requirements of modern applications and the clutter of pages.

The innovation is currently only available in the beta channel. Previously, it was in the Canary build of the Edge browser. Apparently, the RAM limiter will soon work in the stable version of Microsoft Edge, but the developers have not yet disclosed any details.
