As the most recent rumors indicated, Microsoft has confirmed its next Surface and Windows event focused on artificial intelligence. Those from Redmond have not offered too many details, but the page dedicated to it speaks of a “new era of work.”

Microsoft indicates that the event will emphasize the latest to scale the use of artificial intelligence with Windows, Copilot and Surface. The presentation will take place on Thursday March 21, at 09:00 Pacific Time (PDT); that is, 17:00 in Spain, 13:00 in Argentina and 10:00 in Mexico.

When it comes to hardware, Microsoft is expected to introduce two new Surface laptops. On the one hand there would be Surface Pro 10and on the other the Surface Laptop 6. The first would maintain a design similar to that of the Surface Pro 9, but would arrive with an OLED screen with support for HDR and some other minor additions.

For the Surface Laptop 6, meanwhile, Microsoft would choose to continue with two versions. The novelty would be a renewed design with thinner edges, which would allow the smaller variant to have a 13.8-inch screen, against the 13.5 inches of the smaller Surface Laptop 5. The other model would remain at 15 inches.

Although the big news would be that both laptops would be available with both processors Intel Core Ultraas with the Snapdragon X Elite from Qualcomm. Of course, equipment with x86-based hardware would hit the market first and would be available from April. Those who want to try the ARM versions would have to wait until June.

New Microsoft Surface and Windows event will focus on AI

Seeing the strong push that Redmond is giving to artificial intelligence and its integration into their products, we can expect many references to Copilot. It is a fact that the new Microsoft Surface will include the new key dedicated to the virtual assistant. Although the story would not end there.

Those from Redmond could present a new Windows 11 “AI explorer” which would run continuously in the background. A kind of permanent history that would help users interact with any action or information on the device using natural language. In this sense, it is expected that this feature will be enhanced by a neural processing unit or NPU present in the new Microsoft Surface.

Beyond the news that the new Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 will bring to the general public, Microsoft could also introduce special versions of both laptops for the commercial sector. Apparently, these models would integrate a CAC readera device commonly used for credit or identification cards.

For now, we will have to wait a couple of weeks until we know definitively what the company is up to for its new event. Unlike the Panos Panay era, where the Microsoft Surface occupied the center of attention, this time it seems that they will be a mere complement of the firm’s advances in its all-out commitment to AI. Which does not necessarily mean that there is no important news to share. We will be attentive to everything that happens next March 21.
