Microsoft Cuts Dozens of Jobs at Israel R&D Center Amid Copilot Studio Shift

Microsoft is cutting dozens of jobs at its research and development center in Israel as part of a global organizational shift involving the Copilot Studio team, with affected workers receiving notice on Monday.

Technology giant Microsoft has initiated structural reductions affecting its Israeli development operations, where tens of employees face potential displacement amid a broader global reorganization of specific corporate units. The adjustments specifically touch the Copilot Studio division operating within the country, according to regional reporting.

The tech giant maintains approximately 3,000 research and development personnel across six physical campuses in Israel. These sites span major metropolitan areas including Tel Aviv, Haifa, Nazareth, Beer Sheva, Jerusalem, and the largest campus situated in Herzliya.

Internal Reassignment and Copilot Studio Cuts at Israeli R&D Centers

While exact figures remain fluid, initial estimates indicate that roughly 50 employees have been summoned for pre-termination hearings. However, company sources suggest that about half of those individuals are expected to stay within the development center, with many workers in the targeted group receiving opportunities to transition into alternative roles across the enterprise.

Copilot Studio serves as a proprietary platform designed for corporate environments to build and manage automated artificial intelligence agents capable of executing business processes. Unlike standard conversational interfaces built solely for answering queries, the software deploys digital assistants that execute actions directly within established institutional workflows.

Corporate Rationale and Executive Transition in Local Leadership

Corporate representatives addressed the organizational changes through an official statement emphasizing ongoing operational alignment with shifting industry demands and evolving market challenges.

Microsoft Corporate Communications stated, “We continue to examine the company’s activity and its organizational structure, with the aim of adapting them to changing needs and challenges. This process includes changes in team structures and in some cases also difficult decisions that directly affect employees in the company. We are aware of the personal significance of these changes, and will do everything in our power to accompany the employees who will be affected by them during this period with sensitivity, respect, and support,” according to Ice.

Translated into English, the company’s statement reads: We continue to examine the company’s activity and its organizational structure, with the aim of adapting them to changing needs and challenges. This process includes changes in team structures and in some cases also difficult decisions that directly affect employees in the company. We are aware of the personal significance of these changes, and will do everything in our power to accompany the employees who will be affected by them during this period with sensitivity, respect, and support.

These operational adjustments coincide with an executive leadership transition at the Israeli R&D hub. Ohad Yassin was appointed earlier to lead the center, with his term scheduled to begin in early November, succeeding Michal Braverman-Blumenstyk upon her departure from the organization.
