Asobo Studios and Xbox Game Studios have announced that their latest update, “World Update XV: Nordics and Greenland”, is now available. This update covers countries like Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, and also includes the Faroe Islands and Greenland.

This update promises to excite the Microsoft Flight Simulator audience with a host of improvements:

90 handcrafted points of interest. 10 TIN (triangulated irregular network) cities. 5 handmade airports. Extensive high-resolution geographic updates using significantly improved DEMs (digital elevation models) in Iceland, Norway and Sweden. New aerial images and satellite data from the entire region.

Pilots can also look forward to the following trips and challenges:

Four flights of discovery: Bergen (Norway), Gothenburg (Sweden), the Faroe Islands (Denmark) and Reykjavík (Iceland).

Three landing challenges: Akureyri Airport (BIAR), a famous challenge in North Iceland; Ekeby Airport (ESSC), an epic glider challenge in Sweden; and a daring challenge at the Norwegian airport of Mo i Rana (ENRA).

Three bush trips: the Baltic Coast of Denmark and Sweden, which runs through some of the most exquisite coastal landscapes in Europe; the adventurous Exploration of Greenland; and Spitsbergen, which begins with an exploration of Spitsbergen in Norway and then crosses open water to visit northern mainland Norway.
