Microsoft is struggling with problems with its services, including Microsoft 365, Azure and Teams. Millions of computers are affected. This is what’s behind it.
Software problems at Microsoft: Account management and various of the company’s services are currently disrupted. The IT group announced this on social media.
“We are currently investigating access issues and performance degradations across various Microsoft 365 services and features,” the tech giant said.
So if your Microsoft Teams meeting ended abruptly today or you are having or have had problems accessing your Microsoft 365 documents, it is probably due to these technical glitches.
The website Downdetector, which tracks IT outages worldwide, confirmed the report. According to the report, Minecraft, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Azure are affected by the outage. Thousands of reports have been received since midday today – but a solution to the problem is still pending.
The outage follows a faulty software update from cybersecurity company Crowdstrike last Friday that affected around 8.5 million Windows computers worldwide. The update caused significant disruption to many companies and infrastructures.
Banks, supermarkets and other large institutions were among those affected, reporting computer problems. Airlines also had to warn of delays, and some airports even cancelled flights. Rail traffic also suffered disruptions, affecting travelers all over the world.
It is unclear whether there is a direct connection between the faulty software update and the current outage. An official statement from Microsoft is still pending.
