Microsoft unveiled the NVIDIA-powered Surface Laptop Ultra and RTX Spark hardware at a San Francisco event on October 7, 2026. Priced starting at $2,599, the device features up to 128GB of unified memory and arrives alongside enterprise AI control tools and hybrid intelligence updates for Windows 11.
Microsoft teamed up with NVIDIA in San Francisco to unveil hardware and software built to run AI agents directly on Windows PCs.
NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang joined Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella at Dogpatch Studios during a fireside chat hosted by Sriram Krishnan, a former senior White House policy advisor on AI. Huang reflected on the historical connection between the two companies, noting that without Windows there would be no GeForce.
Surface Laptop Ultra Features NVIDIA RTX Spark Processor
Headlining the hardware announcements is the Surface Laptop Ultra, built around an Arm-based NVIDIA RTX Spark processor. The $2,599 device serves as Microsoft’s most powerful Surface to date, featuring up to a staggering 128GB of unified memory in a unified memory architecture dynamically shared between CPU and GPU, giving it the ability to run demanding AI models that other laptops cannot handle. Pavan Davuluri, Microsoft’s executive vice president of Windows and devices, demonstrated the system’s performance by showing it simultaneously running the video game Gears of War: E Day,
GitHub Copilot, and the video editing platform DaVinci Resolve.
When it comes to artificial intelligence tasks specifically, Microsoft stated that the Surface Laptop Ultra delivers 4.3 times faster AI image generation than a MacBook Pro equipped with Apple’s M5 Pro chip, as well as 6.2 times faster video generation.

Microsoft Launches RTX Spark Dev Box and Execution Containers
Beyond portable computers, the product ecosystem features the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, which is designed for 24/7 operation as a dedicated local AI system keeping agents running continuously. Available for pre-order at an MSRP of $5,999, the deskside configuration is offered exclusively through the Microsoft Store online in the United States and will begin shipping to customers in November.
On the operating system front, Microsoft announced the general availability of Microsoft Execution Containers (MXC), providing an OS-level infrastructure and policy-driven sandboxing layer that allows agents to run safely and persistently in the background under system control. Microsoft highlighted its Agent 365 IT control platform alongside upcoming Windows capabilities that use Microsoft Entra to distinguish agent activity from user activity.
