The Xbox PC app is launching up to 60 percent faster following a new update that began rolling out to members of the Xbox Insider program on November 5, 2026. Microsoft is also introducing a refreshed web interface and updates to cloud gaming applications across supported televisions and VR headsets.
PC Application Launches and Loads Significantly Faster
The latest update targets quality-of-life improvements to reduce navigation time within the PC application. According to Microsoft, the app now launches up to 60 percent faster, while pages such as Home, Store, and Game Pass load up to 50 percent faster. In-app windows also open up to 65 percent faster.
The company noted that these figures are based on internal testing and may vary depending on individual system configurations, hardware, and internet connections. Asha Sharma posted a side-by-side video of the old and new versions to demonstrate these speed increases. A faster, more responsive app: The app now launches up to 60% faster. Pages like Home, Store, and Game Pass load up to 50% faster, and in-app windows open up to 65% faster,
the company stated in an official announcement.
Beyond speed, the redesign includes a cleaner visual style intended to simplify daily tasks. The Library section features updated filters and organizational tools, while social features—including friend lists and party chats—have been moved into the main menu to reduce the number of clicks required to connect with other players. The application now includes refreshed game cards, Settings, and animations to improve scanability and menu access.

Expansion to Cloud Gaming and Web Platforms
Microsoft is simultaneously rolling out a refreshed web experience for Xbox Cloud Gaming. This update, which was previously in testing with Insiders, is scheduled to reach more users automatically over the coming weeks. The web overhaul adds a dedicated Library tab for cloud-eligible games, supporting sorting by genre, input method, and recent play history.
A new desktop mode for the web interface adjusts to larger displays, allowing for more content to be visible while browsing. Customization options have also been expanded to include five high-contrast settings alongside the standard light and dark themes.
We’re making XBOX on Windows faster and more responsive. Starting today, we’re rolling out updates that make our app up to 60% faster. A meaningful improvement, with plenty more to do. pic.twitter.com/h5kzHSpR8H
These changes are part of our work to make XBOX faster, simpler, and more familiar wherever you play,
said Jason Beaumont, VP, Xbox Experiences. There’s more to do, and your feedback will continue to shape what comes next.
Xbox Insider Program Receives Exclusive Update Access
The updated PC app is currently exclusive to the Xbox Insider program. After a short wait for enrollment to process, a reboot and a check for updates in the Microsoft Store typically trigger the installation. The company has clarified that these performance metrics do not indicate higher frame rates or improved performance inside the games themselves.

While the company has not announced a specific date for when the redesigned PC app will reach the general public, the update continues a series of platform refinements. These updates are another step toward making Xbox easier to use, more responsive, and more familiar wherever you choose to play,
Beaumont added. We’ll continue listening to player feedback and improving over time.
Microsoft is overhauling its Xbox PC, web, and cloud apps with a much faster design. Xbox Insiders can start testing the new Xbox PC app today. I've been using it for the past few weeks and it's much better on a controller. Details 👇https://t.co/rtigCtNFiv
