Microsoft will raise prices for cloud software by 10%

Microsoft announced an increase in prices for cloud software by 10% from January 1, 2022, partners of the company told Vedomosti and Anna Lobanova, director of the public relations department of Microsoft in Russia, confirmed. From January 1, 2022, prices for Office Professional Plus, Office Standard, Windows Server Standard and Datacenter, RDS SAL (Remote Desktop Service) will increase by 10%, she said. The cost of licenses for CIS Standard will increase by 5%, CIS Datacenter – by 7%, added Lobanova.

On December 6, Microsoft’s distributors in Russia were notified of this, she said, referring to a global price increase that has occurred around the world.

The increase in license prices will occur because new products have been released, Lobanova added. In September 2021, Microsoft announced the availability of Windows Server 2022, the next version of RDS and Office, to SPLA partners, she recalled.

SPLA is a form of licensing in which a partner acquires licenses, deploys them in their data center and offers them to customers as a cloud service from there, a Microsoft spokesperson said. MIOL (Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited) sells licenses to an SPLA reseller, for example, 1C, Mont and Softline companies. SPLA reseller supplies licenses to hosters. A hoster can include Microsoft licenses in its service that it provides to customers. The customers of these services are mainly small and medium-sized businesses, says Lobanova. Individuals will not be affected by this increase, she said.
