Middle East: Washington welcomes HM the King’s commitment to peace and security

Washington – The United States, through Secretary of State Antony Blinken, welcomed on Thursday the commitment of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to peace and security in the Middle East.

During a telephone conversation Wednesday with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, the head of American diplomacy, also highlighted the “close” ongoing cooperation between Morocco and the United States, said a statement from the State Department spokesperson.

The discussions between the two officials also focused on efforts to prevent an escalation in the Middle East region.

During the extraordinary session of the Arab League Council at the level of foreign ministers on the development of the situation in Palestine which took place on Wednesday in Cairo, Mr. Bourita stressed that His Majesty the King has constantly called for moving away from the logic of conflict and violence to make prevail that of peace, cooperation and the building of a prosperous space for all the peoples of the region.

Mr. Bourita expressed Morocco’s readiness to adhere to any Arab and international effort aimed at achieving the aspirations of the Palestinian people for the establishment of an independent state with East Al Quds as its capital on the borders of June 4, 1967, in accordance with the two-state solution as agreed at the international level.
