A significant human and logistical force was mobilized on Wednesday in Midelt to prepare kits of basic food products and blankets, intended for families affected by the cold snap in several douars in this province.
Samir Benyada, regional coordinator of the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, said that in application of the High Instructions of HM King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, the Foundation launched, in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior and local authorities, a humanitarian operation to face the cold snap for the benefit of the population of the mountainous areas of the Middle and Great Atlas.
This operation, he specified in a statement to the press, targets, in its first phase, more than 20,000 families spread over four provinces, namely those of Midelt, Khénifra, Azilal and Al Haouz.
He added that the second phase of this operation concerns 5 other provinces, namely those of Chefchaouen, Tinghir, Al Hoceima, Taza, Taounate and other areas.
For his part, Dr. Soumiya Jdidi, from the medical-humanitarian division of the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, stressed that, upon High Royal Instructions, the Foundation is deploying, in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior and local authorities, a significant human and logistical system to provide many families from remote areas affected by the cold snap with a support kit consisting of food products and blankets.
This first phase of intervention is directed towards four provinces, including Midelt where the kits relating to 3,750 families from 35 douars, including the most remote ones such as Ighalen (commune of Imilchil) and Anefgou (commune of Amenzi), will be distributed.
HM King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, has given his High Instructions to immediately launch the “Grand Froid” solidarity action in favor of rural populations exposed to the significant drop in temperatures in the provinces of the Grand and Middle Atlas, indicates a press release from the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity.
A significant human and logistical force will be deployed in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior and local authorities so that humanitarian aid is delivered to the many families from the douars and remote areas, according to the same source.
Each household will benefit from a support kit consisting of food products (flour, rice, sugar, tea, salt, oil and powdered milk) and blankets.
