Mieli and Gianani together in Our Films with Mediawan – Italy-World

(ANSA) – ROME, AUGUST 27 – Our Films is born, a new production company founded by Mario Gianani and Lorenzo Mieli and part of the Mediawan group, the leading independent European audiovisual content studio. Mediawan has in fact invested in a majority stake in the new Italian film production and financing company launched in early 2024 and based in Rome. Our Films brings together Gianani and Mieli in a new company focused on collaborating with leading European, US and international directors and talents, both established and emerging, for feature films, documentaries and TV series. The new entity will be overseen by Elisabeth D’Arvieu, CEO of Mediawan Pictures, which holds the stake in Our Films, and by Pierre-Antoine Capton, who has taken on the role of president of the new Italian company. Mediawan is the creative engine and producer of some of the world’s most iconic productions, including Call My Agent, Three Body Problem, Bob Marley: One Love, Miraculous Ladybug, Rhythm and Flow France, The Agency, The Count of Montecristo, Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story, HIP/High Potential and One Day, and the company’s presence now extends to 13 countries, as well as operations in Africa, Asia and the United States. Lorenzo Mieli, former CEO of Fremantle Italia, which formed The Apartment Pictures in 2020, has produced global blockbusters such as The Hand of God (Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival), Luca Guadagnino’s Bones and All (Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival), Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla (which won the Coppa Volpi for Cailee Spaeny at the 2023 Venice Film Festival) and Paolo Sorrentino’s Parthenope (in competition at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival). Mario Gianani’s films have received critical and award-winning success, including The Mafia Kills Only in Summer (European Film Awards for Best Comedy in 2014) directed by Pif, The Eight Mountains (Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, 4 David di Donatello and 2 Nastri d’argento), the Italian box office hit There’s Still Tomorrow (19 nominations for the David di Donatello in 2024) directed by Paola Cortellesi and Limonov: The Ballad by Kirill Serebrennikov (official competition at the Cannes Film Festival 2024), in co-production with Chapter 2 (Mediawan). Together, Gianani and Mieli have collaborated on numerous productions, including international successes such as The Young Pope and The New Pope for HBO, both created by Oscar-winning director Paolo Sorrentino, We Are Who We Are by Luca Guadagnino, also with HBO, as well as the TV series My Brilliant Friend directed by Saverio Costanzo and adapted from Elena Ferrante’s best-sellers and translated all over the world.
