So far, the police officers have discovered three larger groups at the border crossing near Mosty u Jablunkov in Frýdecko-Místek. In two cases, the migrants traveled in vans, while a group of sixteen traveled in a car. “The driver was caught,” said police spokesperson Pavla Jiroušková.
Two other smaller groups also tried to cross the border in passenger vehicles, and some of the migrants were discovered by the police on trains.
Controls also in trains
The Czech Republic introduced border controls with Slovakia from Wednesday, October 4. The Moravian-Silesian police arrested the first migrants only shortly after the measure came into effect. According to earlier information, eight dozen police officers were involved in the controls in the region.
Police officers in the region focus on large border crossings, such as the one in Mosty u Jablunkov. They also carry out random checks at smaller crossings or on trains arriving in the Czech Republic from Slovakia.
