This reaffirmation comes within the framework of the 2nd meeting of the Permanent Joint Migration Group (GPMM), chaired by the Wali director of migration and border surveillance at the Ministry of the Interior, Khalid Zerouali, and the Secretary of State for Migrations, Christine Schraner Burgener. The meeting, which took place in the presence of the Moroccan ambassador to Switzerland, Lahcen Azoulay, reflects the dynamism that characterizes the cooperative relations between the two countries.
On this occasion, the Moroccan delegation, which includes officials and executives from different sectors concerned, recalled the positive results of the National Immigration and Asylum Strategy, launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which made it possible to regularize the situation of a large number of immigrants and integrate them into the Moroccan societal fabric, making them a factor of enrichment and diversity.
The Moroccan delegation also underlined the need to reconcile the security approach and that of development, in order to win the bet of human flows which serve both the interests of the host countries and those of the countries of origin, recalling the tireless efforts of the Kingdom in the fight against illegal immigration and the dismantling of human trafficking networks.
For her part, the Swiss official, who was accompanied by a large delegation of experts and executives from the sectors concerned, underlined the central role played by Morocco, thanks to its geographical location, in the management of migratory flows, highlighting forward the positive steps taken by the two countries since the first meeting held in Rabat.
She also welcomed the policy adopted by Morocco on immigration and the successes accumulated by the Rabat process, which launched an important dynamic of dialogue, expressing her country’s support for the Kingdom in the implementation of the policy. humane and effective management of migratory flows.
In the same vein, the two parties welcomed the positive role played by the Moroccan community in Switzerland and agreed to continue joint action in managing the migration issue.
The first meeting of the GPMM, which took place on September 5 in Rabat, was crowned by the development of concrete initiatives dealing with the different areas of migration following a global approach.
