Miguel “mecafé” and his family will have to return state funds

The Attorney General’s Office of the Republic requested the First Civil Chamber of the First Section of the Center of San Salvador to enforce the sentence, demanding that:

Miguel Menéndez must return $1,868,104.39 to the State, for not doing so voluntarily; in the same process, his wife, Fátima Yanira Henríquez de Menéndez, is being asked to return $59,760.95.

On the other hand, her daughters: Fatima Yanira Menendez de Vairo is required to restitute $133,415.70, while Andrea Vanessa Menendez Henriquez de Handal is required to pay $23,461.92.

Today, a Special Hearing is being held to oppose the sentence issued against “Mecafé,” who was president of the International Center for Fairs and Conventions (CIFCO) during the Funes administration, and his family group.

According to the prosecutor in the case, the former official’s defenders oppose the sentence imposed in 2021, in which Menéndez and his family are forced to return $2,084,742.96 to the State.
