As a follow-up to the meeting held in Baku with entrepreneurs from the Absheron region and the city of Sumgayit working in the non-oil industry, the Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov got acquainted with the activities of a number of enterprises in the Yevlakh pilot agropark.

The meetings were attended by the heads of the structural divisions of the ministry, the head of the Executive Authority of the city of Yevlakh Anar Taghiyev, as well as Harvard Kennedy School professor Juan Jimenez and specialists from the laboratory of the Center for International Development at Harvard University, who are visiting Azerbaijan as part of cooperation with the Ministry of Economy.

The resident of the agropark, ISFA LLC, provided information on the work being carried out to create a fruit garden on an area of ​​20 hectares. Investments in the project amounted to 310 thousand manats, the planned production of products is 480 tons. In addition, a nursery for seedlings was created on a 6-hectare plot owned by the resident. Investments in the project amounted to 1.1 million manats and by the end of the year it is planned to export 800 thousand seedlings.

There was also an introduction to the project of the Azerbaijan Company for Poultry Development LLC for the production of breeding eggs with a capacity of 20 million units per year. The implementation of the project envisages investments in the amount of 27.1 million manats and the creation of 32 permanent jobs.

The Yevlakh pilot agropark with an area of ​​2807 hectares is the first agropark in the country created with the participation of small and medium farmers. The agropark plans to create areas with intensive fruit gardening, livestock and poultry farms, as well as processing enterprises. Currently, 815 hectares of the agropark are fully supplied with water and electricity, internal farm roads have been built, and work continues to create infrastructure on an area of ​​370 hectares.

33 business entities on the territory of 1939 hectares received the status of agropark resident. Residents’ investments are planned in the amount of 52 million manat, which will create 305 permanent jobs. To date, residents’ investments have amounted to 29 million manat, 92 permanent and 190 seasonal jobs have been created. On 991 hectares, 19 residents are carrying out sowing work, and orchards have been planted on 409 hectares.

During the visit to the Yevlakh Pilot Agropark, the potential of industrial parks created in Azerbaijan, alternative energy projects and the possibilities of creating eco-parks were discussed with experts from Harvard University. During the visit to Azerbaijan, the experts will also get acquainted with the activities of industrial parks.

In continuation of the dialogue with entrepreneurs and exporters, a meeting will be held with entrepreneurs from Ganja and nearby regions.
