Mike Lynch, 59-year-old British investor and co-founder of the successful technology company Autonomyis among those missing after his luxury yacht sank off the coast of Sicily early Monday morning.

The tornado that caused the accident hit the 56-meter-long vessel, the Bayesianwhich is registered in his wife’s name, Angela Bacares.

Lynch, known for his role in the sale of Autonomy a Hewlett-Packard (HP) in 2011, recently faced significant legal problems. The acquisition, one of the largest in the British technology sector, was marred by allegations of fraud.

Although HP initially valued the purchase at $11 billion, it later reduced its value by $8.8 billion. Lynch and former financial executive of Autonomy, Stephen Chamberlain, were accused of inflating the company’s revenues. In June, Lynch was acquitted of all charges.

Founded in 1996, Autonomy has become the largest software company in the world. Great BritainLynch was praised at the time by academics and scientists and was asked to advise the British Government on technology and innovation.

The yacht accident left Lynch missing, while among those rescued is his wife, who was on the boat.
