The 22nd round of the Euroleague continues tonight (Friday) with four games. In the spotlight, Milan are already third after a 57:67 away win over CSKA Moscow. Anadolu Efes was two seconds away from a home loss to the most recent Panathinaikos, but a three-pointer by Adrian Morman set them up for a dramatic win. Bayern scored an away win over Basconia, while Villarban prevailed. On the Red Star Belgrade at the end of a close game.
CSKA Moscow – Milan 67:57
Ettore Messina’s team has been mentioning in recent weeks the great ability it has shown at the start of the season. Tonight perhaps the attacks of both teams were not particularly prominent. The first quarter belonged to the guest, who led at the end 10:23. The Russians recovered, scoring 25 points in the second quarter and falling just 5 behind to the break. Unfortunately for the host, only where Lundberg (15) and Toko Shangalya (13) scored in double digits, while the rest of the CSKA players were below their level.
Milan conceded just 22 points in the second half (11 in each quarter) and closed out an impressive away win and third in a row in the Euroleague. Devon Hall and Troy Daniels (13 each) led the scoring, with Kyle Haynes adding 12.
Anadolu Zero – Panathinaikos 81:82
After two losses that put them back in the negative balance, the Turks went up to a 10:10 balance after a very hard win over the penultimate. Pau came into tonight’s game with just four wins in her lap, but on tonight’s parquet it was not clear who the Euroleague champion was and who the bottom team was. After a first quarter in which they scored just 12 points, the Greeks scored 30 in the second quarter en route to a half-time lead. Although Anadolu took the lead again, it failed to escape, and Panathinaikos turned in the decisive quarter again.
2 seconds to the end, in a 79:81 lead to the visitors, Adrian Morman scored a critical three-pointer, which won the game, after a great attack by Anadolu. The great Nemanja Nedovic tried from half a yard, but his ball hit the board and went out. Pau with a loss, the 15th in the season.
Basconia – Bayern Munich 84:77
The Basques, who have recovered since the arrival of Naban Spahija, have lost some momentum and are already on a second straight loss. The Bavarians, on the other hand, win again after the loss against Monaco and are once again strong in the battle for a place in the top eight. Wade Baldwin was huge in the ranks at Asconia (23 rebounds), but on the other side Corey Walden (6 assists) Othello Hunter (8 rebounds) and Augustine Robbitt (7 rebounds) contributed 17 points each and formed a wall in form for Andrea Trincieri’s side on their way to a ninth win of the season.
