MILANO. “I am a torchbearer for Milan-Cortina 2026? I would like to but these are questions we can’t answer yet. I would like to be part of the Olympics in some way: sport has given me so much, the adrenaline that skiing has given me I haven’t received from other things yet. I have a great connection with winter. I would like to see the giant, the downhill but only from the outside because when I skied I was scared”. He says Jannik Sinner during the conference of his presentation as Ambassador of the volunteer team for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics.

It will be about 18 thousand volunteers expected for the event and from today you can submit your applications online, only on the website milanocortina2026.org: the only requirements are to be 18 years old by 1 November 2025, to know Italian and/or English, to participate in the selection and training events and to guarantee a minimum availability of nine non-consecutive days during the Games.

The world number one tennis player also returns to his missed participation in Paris due to tonsillitis: “The Olympics for me this year were the biggest goal, but unfortunately I was unable to go. But it is the most important event for every athlete”.

“Even in tennis, without volunteers the event doesn’t happen and I always thank them. For them, we are idols and important ideas for their growth, and it’s right to make it clear that their work is important. Of course, in the biggest event like the Olympics, things are different,” said Sinner, who as is known also has a past as a very young promise in skiing. “One of my best days is December 25, because with my friends and family we always make a nice group to go skiing. It’s a special day that recharges me, skiing is still very important to me.”
