Inclusive language “has been used as a business of politics” and is part of the “indoctrination of Marxism,” were some of the reasons given by the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, when prohibiting its use as well as any reference to the perspective gender in public administration documents.
The presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adornia, announced that the Argentine government began actions to reverse the use of inclusive language in documents related to the country’s public administration, a practice adopted by the government of Alberto Fernández. In fact, a day before this news, in conjunction with the Ministry of Defense, it had already been considered that words like “soldier” or “general” were a “denaturation” of the language.
Javier Milei, for his part, prohibits the use of the letter ‘e’, the at sign, the ‘x’, in addition to avoiding “the unnecessary” inclusion of the feminine in all public administration documents.
It makes it clear, in this sense, that the Argentine government only recognizes the structure of Castilian, Spanish, since in its opinion this already includes all sectors of the population.
An order signed by the Minister of Defense, Luis Petri, indicates that the Spanish language must be used under the terms and rules established by the Royal Spanish Academy.
Milei remains committed to “fighting the cultural battle” against the “indoctrination of Marxism” which he considers responsible for having coined inclusive language, as well as gender ideology and the ecological agenda.
