The Military and Police Criminal Justice has initiated an investigation into the events that led to the death of regular soldier Brayan Alexander Orozco Zambrano in the department of Putumayo.

A military and police criminal investigation judge has opened a preliminary investigation for the alleged crime of homicide against two National Police patrolmen, who are believed to be involved in the events in which soldier Orozco Zambrano was injuredand which subsequently resulted in his death.

The preliminary investigation, under file 640 dated February 28, 2024, was initially initiated for the crime of personal injury, after it was learned that Orozco Zambrano had been injured by a gunshot and had been rescued alive from the Caquetá River, near the La Tagua Police Station in Puerto Leguízamo.
