Naypyidaw: It is reported that more than 50 people have been killed in an airstrike by the army in the rebel area of Myanmar. The army launched an attack on the opening ceremony of the office of the People’s Defense Force in Peysigo village in Myanmar. Foreign media reports that people including children died in the incident.
The United Nations condemned the incident. UN spokesman Volker Turk said that children were among the victims of the attack and that those responsible for the attack should be brought to justice.
The People’s Defense Force (PDF) was formed in Myanmar in 2021 following a military coup. The organization is made up of supporters of the National Unity Government of Myanmar. According to unconfirmed estimates, the organization has around 65,000 members.
