A success which damaged his health. Jaden Ashman, better known as Wolfiez in the esports world, shared in a TikTok video how his success from a young age had a huge impact on his physical and mental health.

After finishing second in the Fortnite Duos World Cup in 2019, the 15-year-old Briton earned $1.4 million, becoming the youngest e-sports player to pocket such a sum, a record validated by the Guinness World Record.

While earning so much money at this age may seem difficult to manage, it was the practice of e-sport that did a lot of harm to young Jaden’s health. While everything was going well after the Fortnite World Cup, it was a pain in his hand that turned the life of the young man who had just given his mother a house upside down.

This pain felt after a “normal day of play” forced him to take a three or four day break during which he realized that he was “unhappy” in his life. “I got up, I didn’t even eat, I didn’t take a shower and I went straight to my PC,” confides the young man, now 20 years old.

Mental health “completely forgotten in e-sport”

Having become obsessed with the survival game, Wolfiez says he left his body and mind in a pitiful state after years of neglect. “I was frail, not in good health. I couldn’t even go back and forth to do my shopping,” he recalls.

In addition to his physical problems, Jaden says he struggled to maintain relationships with family and friends, and fell into “a sort of depression.” “When I was playing, I was on top of the world but every evening, when I lay in bed and looked at myself, I was not happy with my progress,” admits the young man.

In this video addressed to his approximately 47,000 subscribers, Jaden regrets that mental and physical health are “completely forgotten in e-sport”. Faced with this depression, he decided to put an end to his sedentary lifestyle and take refuge in sport, going to the gym very regularly, which “changed his life”.
