Thimalai: Millions of devotees gathered at Thiruvannamalai yesterday on the occasion of Chitra Pournami. A large number of devotees performed Kirivalam.
Special prayers were held at the Annamalaiyar Temple. Also, after special prayers were held at the Chitra Kuptan Sanctuary opposite the Amman Sanctuary, devotees flocked in rows and performed Sami darshan.
Devotees were delighted as they were allowed to perform darshan till 11 pm.
Devotees from different parts of the country flocked to the temple. Devotees said they had to wait in line for three hours to perform the Sami darshan.
About 3,500 guards were deployed on security duty as the ceremony took place two years later. 2,800 special buses were operated on behalf of the State Transport Corporation.
Alms were given to the devotees in different parts of Thiruvannamalai.
