by time news

Several machines have been stolen including wheel loaders, trailers, and most recently GPS systems from a railway construction site in Johannedal. The estimated cost of the stolen GPS systems alone is several hundred thousand, along with large buckets totaling a few hundred thousand. As a result of the increasing number of thefts this year, the police are issuing a warning to contractors and others who possess large machines. The police coordinator for crimes in Västernorrland, Marlene Sjölund, is currently piecing together the details to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The stolen machines consist of wheel loaders, trailers – and most recently at the railway construction site in Johannedal, machine control equipment in the form of a GPS system has been stolen.

– The GPS systems that are stolen, we are talking about several hundred thousand, the buckets are large and will probably amount to a few hundred thousand, says Marlene Sjölund, who works as a crime coordinator at the Police in Västernorrland.

The police issue a warning

Due to the many thefts, the police now want to issue a warning to contractors and others who have large machines.

– We have seen an increase in these crimes since the beginning of this year. So now we are putting together a puzzle to be able to call in these perpetrators, says Marlene Sjölund.
