A hard blow has shaken the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) and the fight against organized crime: the murder of Chief Commissioner Milton Morales Figueroaone of the closest collaborators of the former head of the department, Omar García Harfuchand a fundamental piece in the security strategy of Mexico City.
According to columnist Héctor De Mauleón, Morales Figueroa, who the SSC itself has described as “the profile of police officer to which this country should aspire”, distinguished himself for his outstanding career in the fight against crime.
During his career, he was in charge of various high-impact operations and achieved important results in the dismantling of criminal gangs and the clarification of relevant cases.
De Mauleón notes that in recent years, Morales Figueroa had been instrumental in Mexico City’s security strategy, coordinating operations against organized crime in Iztapalapa and leading high-profile investigations.

The capture of El Faso:A few weeks ago, Morales Figueroa led the investigation that culminated in the arrest of a subject nicknamed El Faso, a drug dealer leader allegedly involved in the disappearance of former Pumas player, Diego Rodríguez Miranda, “El Kalusha”, as well as the capture of six others involved.
The investigation into the attack against Ciro Gómez Leyva: Morales Figueroa was also in charge of the investigation into the attack against journalist Ciro Gómez Leyva, an investigation that has gained new relevance following the recent interview given by the hitman who tried to kill the journalist.
The recovery of objects stolen from Miguel BoséIn another important operation, Morales Figueroa led the investigation that led to the recovery of stolen objects from the home of Spanish singer Miguel Bosé, resulting in the arrest of five members of a gang dedicated to robbing high-end homes.

“Chief Commissioner Milton Morales Figueroa was cowardly murdered in Coacalco, State of Mexico, when he was apparently out walking with his family,” warned the head of government, Martí Batres, on his social networks.
“Milton was in charge of important research tasks to protect the peace and security of the inhabitants of Mexico City. We are working with authorities in the State of Mexico to arrest those responsible.
A hug of solidarity for his loved ones.”
Meanwhile, Mexico City Police Chief Pablo Vázquez Camacho warned that there will be no impunity following the murder of Morales Figueroa.
“I regret to inform you that, as a result of a cowardly attack that occurred in #Coacalco, State of Mexico, my colleague and friend Chief Commissioner Milton Morales Figueroa lost his life,” he said on social media.
“In this case, as in other cases that we handle at the @SSC_CDM, there will be no impunity; we will work in coordination with the @FiscaliaEdomex and the @SS_Edomex to identify, arrest and bring those responsible to justice.”
We will not rest until the aggressors are stopped. We will not take a step back; we will redouble our efforts in our fight for peace and security, the secretary said.
