Milwaukee’s 4th Base Bar Fuels Brewers’ NLCS Run with Hometown Energy
Milwaukee sports fans have a long-standing tradition of passionate support, and one local establishment is embodying that spirit as the Brewers compete in the National League Championship Series. 4th Base, a West Milwaukee bar and restaurant, is hosting watch parties and serving as a hub for fans eager to cheer on their team.
Established in 1977, 4th Base has become a beloved institution, steeped in decades of sports history. The venue boasts an impressive collection of sports memorabilia, ranging from actual stadium seats to a signed Brewers dugout sign prominently displayed on the ceiling. “Little by little, over 50 years, you tend to collect quite a bit of stuff,” explained the bar’s manager, CJ Papara, who took over the business from his father. “The more you look around, the more little bits and pieces of history you see.”
The Brewers’ success this season is having a tangible impact on local businesses like 4th Base. According to Papara, the excitement surrounding the team is “contagious,” boosting morale among staff and patrons alike. “The overall excitement…it just, it’s contagious. So like, then everybody kind of gets caught up to it, the fans, the staff, everything,” he said. Watch parties are scheduled for Friday, with a potential event planned for Saturday contingent on the series’ outcome.
Papara described the atmosphere during these events as electric. “There’s a different energy when you’ve got a, you know, bar packed of, you know, 50 to 100 people all watching the same game,” he noted.
Like many dedicated fans, Papara is hoping to see the Brewers advance to the World Series. He also expressed a desire for inspiration from the late, legendary Brewers broadcaster, Bob Uecker. “Hopefully he’s looking down on us and can help us out here in LA,” Papara said.
The bar is actively engaging with its audience, encouraging feedback and story ideas through its connection with TMJ4 News. Fans can find more information on how to connect at tmj4.com/tips.
