MIMARU Osaka: New Family-Friendly Hotels Open in 2026

by Ahmed Ibrahim World Editor

Osaka is bracing for a surge in family tourism, and one hospitality brand is expanding to meet the demand. MIMARU, known for its spacious apartment-style accommodations, announced this month the opening of two fresh properties in the vibrant city: MIMARU Osaka Shinsaibashi Central and MIMARU Osaka Namba Station Annex. Reservations opened in March for the hotels, slated to welcome guests in fall 2026.

The expansion comes as Japan continues to experience a boom in international visitors. In 2025, the country welcomed over 42 million international tourists – a record high, according to the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO). A significant portion of this growth is driven by families seeking comfortable and convenient lodging options, a need MIMARU specifically addresses with its larger room configurations.

“We’ve seen a clear trend of families wanting to travel together and experience Japan, but needing accommodations that can comfortably fit everyone,” explains Mao Mochizuki, Overseas PR Representative for MIMARU. “Our apartments are designed offering the space and amenities that make traveling with children or extended family much easier.” MIMARU currently employs staff representing 39 nationalities, aiming to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for international guests.

Osaka: A Growing Hub for International Travelers

Osaka’s appeal extends beyond its renowned culinary scene and welcoming atmosphere. Kansai International Airport serves as a major gateway for international arrivals, and the upcoming Osaka-Kansai Expo, scheduled for 2025, is expected to further boost tourism to the region. The Expo is projected to draw a substantial number of visitors, solidifying Osaka’s position as a key destination for exploring western Japan. The city’s accessibility and diverse attractions make it an ideal base for travelers looking to experience the broader Kansai region.

What to Expect at the New MIMARU Properties

MIMARU Osaka Shinsaibashi Central, opening September 1, 2026, will feature 66 rooms designed to accommodate groups of four to six people. Its location, a mere two-minute walk from Shinsaibashi Station, provides easy access to the city’s premier shopping and entertainment districts. More details about the Shinsaibashi Central location can be found on the MIMARU website.

The MIMARU Osaka Namba Station Annex, opening October 1, 2026, will offer 68 rooms geared towards larger groups and longer stays. Situated a five-minute walk from Namba Station, a central transportation hub for the Kansai region, the Annex provides convenient access to Osaka’s wider network of trains and buses. Information about the Namba Station Annex is available on the MIMARU website.

The company’s focus on family-friendly amenities and convenient services positions it well to capitalize on the continued growth of international tourism to Japan.
