A display from Japan’s Takumi Minamino, accompanied by two goals and an assist, lifted Monaco provisionally to the top of Ligue 1 thanks to a convincing win over Strasbourg at the Stade Louis II.
The 28-year-old Japanese already stands out in Adolf Hutter’s team that he reinforced last summer from Liverpool.
Minamino opened the scoring after twenty minutes with a strong shot from distance that surprised goalkeeper Matz Sels. The second was after the hour of play, after an aerial cross from the Brazilian Caio Henrique who headed into the net with success.
