Operating Rooms at Santa Croce Hospital in⁣ Fano ‍Under‌ Threat of Closure

The‍ Democratic Party in Fano has expressed concern over the imminent closure of operating rooms at the Santa Croce hospital. These closures are allegedly⁤ due to‌ a lack of anesthetists, a claim vehemently denied by the hospital management.

Regional councilor Renato Claudio stated ⁣that the hospital’s claims of addressing the issue through new hires ring hollow, citing a⁤ meager ⁣recruitment drive⁢ that resulted in the hiring of ⁢only one‌ anesthetist and three students. This fall in staffing has led to the closure of several operating rooms throughout the summer months.

The consequences of these closures⁢ extend far beyond the operating rooms themselves. Departments across the ⁢hospital, including⁢ Senology, Gynecology, Day Surgery, Ophthalmology, and ENT, are facing reduced services due to the lack of available operating⁣ rooms. Notably, the Breast Unit in Senology is expected to see a 16-operation per week reduction, leaving cancer patients facing potential delays in treatment.

Councilor Claudio urges the hospital’s president and director to address the⁤ situation‍ and fulfill their ⁤commitments to staff and patients.
