Little skinny George worked day and night in the house of a German farmer named Moses Carver. He was the son of a slave woman named Mary. In a way he had fallen in love with plants. One day their neighbor came to the Carver couple. She was stunned to see his colorful and beautiful garden. She said, ‘My plants die. My beautiful rose plants have also become rotten. Will you send your gardener to my place at once? At this Moses smiled and said, ‘George, go and fix aunty’s plants.’
Seeing little George, the neighbor said between her teeth, ‘Did he make this garden?’ George, seeing his neighbor’s plants, said, ‘Aunty, just let me do my work for a while.’ He took a good look at the roses and changed the place of the rose plants. Plant them in a place where they get direct sunlight. After some time, when the neighbor returned to her garden, she was stunned to see this. Each plant was repositioned and old soil was removed and new soil was replaced. The neighbor said to George, ‘How do you know all this about plants? You are still very young. Little George smiled and said, ‘I know how to read the minds of plants.’ The one who reads the minds of plants also finds their cure. This George later became known as the great scientist Dr. George Washington Carver. He had brought an unprecedented revolution in the world of trees, plants and crops.
