Mini IPL in South Africa: Six IPL franchises chasing cash

by time news
According to the English media, the South African Cricket Board’s new T20 league will field 6 IPL franchises, making it a mini IPL series. This new T20 league series will be held in February-March 2023.

An English media says that the bidding for this series has ended on the 13th. Reports say that Mukesh Ambani’s Mumbai Indians, N. Srinivasan’s Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals’ Parth Jindal, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Tamil Nadu owners the Maran brothers, Lucknow Supergiant’s Sanjiv Goenka, Rajasthan Royals’ Manoj Padale have taken 6 teams.

Cricket South Africa said it would release all the details later this month. It seems that they have already completed the purchase of 6 teams.

The media report says that Kevin Pietersen’s federation was also in the running but could not stand up to the cash power of the IPL owners.

Mumbai Indians will build their South African league team from Cape Town, CSK franchise will be based in Johannesburg, Delhi Capitals owner Jindal will be based in Centurion.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will be the Port Elizabeth based team in the rest. Rajasthan Royals will be based in Parl.

It is said that Mumbai Indians and CSK teams have splurged on money, i.e. they have spent up to Rs.250 crores. A competitive T20 league is being formed in the UAE instead of this South African money T20 league, thus the world of cricket is going to be divided into two by the money capitalists.
