The data in the weekly bulletin of the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DKSBT) show a minimal increase in the prices of most basic foodstuffs on the stock exchanges in the country during the past week. The exception is some vegetables and fruits tracked by the commission, which are becoming cheaper, reports BTA.

The market price index (MPI), which reflects the movement of wholesale food prices in our country, increased minimally by 0.26 percent to 2,296 points during the week. Last week the ITC was at the level of 2,290 points.

The level of the ITC at the beginning of last year was 2,316 points, and in the first third of March it reached its spring maximum of 2,480 points. The base level of the ITC – 1,000 points – is from 2005.

Imported cucumbers became cheaper by 6.1 percent to BGN 2.95 per kilogram, tomatoes (import) – by 3.6 percent to BGN 3.25 per kilogram, and carrots – by 5.4 percent to BGN 1.22 BGN per kilogram.

Ripe onions (import) rose in price by 1.3 percent to BGN 1.59 per kilogram, cabbage – by 1.7 percent to BGN 1.20 per kilogram. The price of red peppers (import) jumped by 12.5 percent to BGN 4.50 per kilogram.

The price of potatoes increased by 3.1 percent and they are traded at BGN 1.35 per kilogram. The salad is cheaper by 8 percent and is available at BGN 1.03 per piece.

Imported apples became cheaper by 2.2 percent and were sold at BGN 1.79 per kilogram. Lemons rose by 3.4 percent to BGN 2.12 per kilogram, bananas by 0.7 percent to BGN 2.84 per kilogram, and tangerines by 2.7 percent to BGN 2.27 per kilogram. The price of oranges fell by 2.9 percent to BGN 2.00 per kilogram.

The price of cow’s cheese fell by 1.3 percent to BGN 10.88 per kilogram, and the Vitosha type cheese rose by 0.5 percent to BGN 16.80 per kilogram.

Yogurt (3 and over 3 percent fat content) remains unchanged and is bought at BGN 1.16 per 400 g bucket, while fresh milk (3 percent fat content) increases in price by 0.4 percent and its price becomes BGN 2. BGN 26 per liter.

The price of chicken meat increased by 2.5 percent and it is available at BGN 6.44 per kilogram. Eggs (size M) remain unchanged, and are bought at BGN 0.37 per piece wholesale at the end of the week.

Rice rose in price by 2.1 percent and was traded at BGN 3.35 per kilogram. Lentils became cheaper by 0.2 percent and are traded at BGN 4.25 per kilogram. Ripe beans rose in price by 1.4 percent to BGN 4.27 per kilogram.

Sugar also increased in price – by 0.5 percent and is sold at BGN 2.18 per kilogram, and oil – by 3.7 percent to BGN 2.78 per liter. Type 500 flour rose by 5.6 percent to BGN 1.31 per kilogram. Cow butter (packet of 125 grams) becomes cheaper by 0.7 percent to BGN 2.65 per unit.
