Here are the details of the 10 companies that record the highest profits in Ecuador, according to the Superintendency of Companies.
The Companies Ranking, updated in June 2024, details a series of data on companies in Ecuador, including their sales, assets and even profits. The companies that record the highest profits in Ecuador belong to the mining, oil, food and telephony sectors, according to information from the Superintendency of Companies, as of June 28, 2024.
Profit is understood as the money that a business earns as profit, after deducting expenses. And net profit is the profit that the company achieves after also subtracting the payment of Income Tax and the distribution of 15% of the profits generated per year among the workers, as established by the Labor Code. This is explained by the Superintendency of Companies.
The list of companies with the highest net profits in the last year is led by Ecuacorriente, whose shareholders are of Chinese origin and which operates the large-scale open-pit Mirador copper mine in the Amazonian province of Zamora Chinchipe. The company, which reached a turnover of USD 1,156 million in 2023, obtained USD 354 million in net profits.
Beer, food and cement
In second place in the ranking is the oil services firm Shaya Ecuador, whose shareholder is the international oil and gas services company Schlumberger. Its net profit reached USD 203 million, according to the Superintendency of Companies.
And in third place is Aurelian Ecuador, which runs Fruta del Norte, the second large-scale mining project in Ecuador, which produces gold and silver. The mine is located in the province of Zamora Chinchipe. Its net profit totaled USD 201 million in the last year.
Also at the top of the list are:
AB InBev, which operates Cervecería Nacional, with the Pilsener and Club brands.
Favorita Corporation, in charge of Supermaxi supermarkets and 30 other brands.
The firm is the one with the highest sales in the country.
Conecel, with the Claro telephone brand in Ecuador.
Shushufindi Consortium, made up of the foreign companies Shushufindi Holdings and Tecpetrol Internacional.
The firm is dedicated to providing services to the state-owned oil company Petroecuador.
Andes Petroleum Ecuador, a Chinese oil company that operates blocks in Ecuador, such as 62 (Tarapoa).
Industrial Pesquera Santa Priscila, one of the main producers and exporters of shrimp in the world.
Holcim, a Swiss company dedicated to the supply of cement and other materials, such as concrete.
