Health Minister Veena George paid another surprise visit to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. On the basis of this, the Minister visited yesterday to understand the night work of the emergency department. The Minister expressed satisfaction that the emergency department was functioning well.

The minister later visited the wards from the emergency department. It was then that Padmakumari’s husband, a patient in the 19th ward, met the minister and complained that he was not getting any medicine from Karunya Pharmacy. The minister took a pill from him and went to Karunya Pharmacy. After the minister left, someone was sent to the Karunya Pharmacy. The employee was angry that I had not told her earlier that there was no medicine.

The minister immediately went to the counter and showed the note. He said there was still no medicine. He asked why there was no medicine. The staff rushed to respond. The minister immediately went inside the pharmacy and checked the list of drugs in the computer. The Minister directed that the list of medicines prescribed by the doctors should be taken and the medicines should be stocked as per the requirement. The Minister directed KMSCL to take stern action against the officials who failed to stock the essential medicines properly.
