Security Minister Gustavo Villatoro stressed that, in the more than five years of President Nayib Bukele’s administration, El Salvador has achieved a historic reduction in murders nationwide, “achieving what many believed impossible and has advanced towards true freedom for its citizens.”
The official said that thanks to the bravery and commitment of the Security Forces, led by the president, El Salvador has now recorded 700 days without homicides, “an achievement that reflects the coordinated effort of a State of Law.”
“These achievements in terms of security are also the result of the sacrifice of our heroes who gave their lives in the line of duty. Our population should have no doubt that we will honour their memory, supporting and defending at all costs what we have already transformed,” Villatoro said.
