Minister Udayanidhi Stalin Condemns Price Increase of Commercial Gas Cylinders

Chennai, India – Minister Udayanidhi Stalin has voiced his condemnation over the recent surge in the price of commercial gas cylinders. In the city of Chennai, the cost of a commercial cylinder has risen by Rs 203 per unit. This comes after a Rs 157 decrease last month, making it a sudden and significant price fluctuation. As a result, the price of a 19 kg commercial cylinder, previously sold at Rs 1,695, has now jumped to Rs 1,898.

Expressing his concern, Minister Udayanidhi Stalin took to Twitter to address the issue. In his post, he stated, “The price hike of Rs 203 for commercial gas cylinders is unacceptable. We strongly condemn the central government’s decision. This sudden increase will have a detrimental impact on small business owners such as restaurants and tea shops. It is yet another blow to the already struggling small businessmen who have been grappling with the adverse effects of misguided economic policies, unregulated GST, demonetization, and the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown. The central government must withdraw this price hike immediately.”

The price hike of commercial gas cylinders has raised concerns among small traders who heavily rely on these cylinders for their businesses. The sudden increase in cost will undoubtedly impact their profit margins, further exacerbating the challenges they have faced in recent times.

With Minister Udayanidhi Stalin publicly denouncing the price hike and calling for its immediate withdrawal, it remains to be seen how the central government will address the issue. The increase in cylinder prices not only affects businesses but also has a ripple effect on the overall economy.

Small business owners are urging the government to reconsider its decision and find alternative solutions to support and sustain their businesses during these challenging times. As the issue gains attention, it is anticipated that further discussions and dialogues will take place between the government and affected stakeholders to reach a resolution.

In the meantime, the small traders continue to face the burden of yet another financial setback, as they strive to keep their businesses afloat amidst the adversities caused by the pandemic and economic uncertainties.
